Descripción/Description

La escofina es una herramienta de carpintería usada para perfilar la madera. Consiste de una punta o espiga, una larga barra de acero o vientre, un talón o base y una lengüeta.
Con las escofinas se obtienen rebajes más toscos que con las limas. Son útiles para eliminar con rapidez la madera saliente de las superficies curvas. Existen varios tipos y formas como la semi-circular, la redonda y la plana.

It is a tool used for shaping wood or other material. It consists of a point or the tip, then a long steel bar or the belly, then the heel or bottom, then the tang. The tang is joined to a handle, usually made of plastic or wood. The bar has sharp teeth. Rasps generally cut more coarsely than files.

 

Modo de uso/Use

El operario debe sujetar la lima por su mango con una de las manos, poniendo el dedo pulgar arriba de este y los dedos restantes rodeándolo por debajo, mientras que la otra mano puede apoyarse o agarrar el otro extremo de la herramienta

The operator must grasp the rasp handle with one hand, and guide the point of the file with the thumb and forefingher of the other hand

Cuidar la postura a la hora de raspar

La pieza debe estar sujeta al tornillo de banco para evitar que se mueva al hacer presión en el raspado

Se usará en cada momento la escofina correcta, según el tipo y la clase de trabajo 

When using a rasp, have secure footing before applying pressure. 

Use a vice to secure the material you are rasping and position the work piece to avoid awkward filling postures

The proper way to clean a rasp is with a rasp card. Never strike it against another piece of metal.

Es una herramienta metálica, con forma de cilindro y acabado en una punta no demasiado pronunciada.  Se utiliza  para marcar puntos sobre superficies de madera, bien para tomar referencias o bien para taladrar la madera en ese punto exacto y que la broca no se escurra The scratch awl is basically a steel spike with its tip sharpened to a fine point It is used to scribe a line to be followed by a hand saw or chisel when making woodworking joints and other operations.

Modo de uso/Use

Solo se debe presionar su punta sobre la superficie que se pretende agujerear o marcar

To make a hole with an awl, turn it to the right and to the left as it begins piercing the material

Seguridad/ Safety Rules

Mantener el punzón en el ángulo correcto con la superficie de trabajo evitará deslizamientos peligrosos.
Nunca llevar un punzón en el bolsillo porque su punta afilada puede causar daños.

Holding an awl at a right angle to the surface of the work will prevent injury-causing slips.

Never carry an awl in a pocket because the sharp point may cause an injury

Es una máquina herramienta usada para cortar madera y plástico. Puede realizar cortes curvos, igual que la sierra de marquetería.	La hoja de la sierra vibra arriba  y abajo, creando el movimiento de corte.	Cuando uses una sierra de vaivén siempre usa gafas. No debes forzar el material mientras estás cortando, puesto que las sierras se parten fácilmente.
It is a machine tool used to cut wood and plastic. It can cut curves like a coping saw.	A fretsaws blade vibrates up and down to create the cutting motion	When using a fretsaw  you should always use goggles. You  should also not force the material  when cutting, as the blades can be  easily broken.
